Chief of Police Myron Demkiw and Mayor Olivia Chow
to join Faith Leaders in Toronto for second annual Prayer Walk,
Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 2 p.m.,
First Baptist Church Toronto
On Thursday, October 24 at 2:00 p.m., Chief of Police Myron Demkiw and Mayor of Toronto Olivia Chow, alongside faith leaders of the Canadian Black Clergies and Allies will be participating in a Prayer Walk in neighbourhoods across Toronto.
For the second time, a prayer walk is taking place simultaneously at every TPS division. The city-wide prayer walk is modeled after 23 Division's Etobicoke Strategy, where each month, for the past 19 years, Neighbourhood Officers and Black faith leaders have walked through neighborhoods in 23 Division to meet community members and build relationships.
This year's theme is 'Unity in Our Community' and is open to all faiths and community members who would like to participate.
The Prayer Walk will begin at Yonge-Dundas Square at 2 p.m. with opening words and prayers. The Prayer Walk will proceed along the following route at 2:30 p.m.:
Start: Yonge-Dundas Square
Westbound: Dundas Street West
Northbound: Spadina Avenue
Eastbound: Baldwin Street
Finish: First Baptist Church Toronto, 101 Huron Street
Media are invited to attend the First Baptist Church Toronto at approximately 3:30 p.m. to speak with Chief Demkiw, Mayor Chow, Reverend Dr. Wendell Gibbs and Bishop Ransford C. Jones once the walk has concluded.
Please RSVP by contacting: corpcomm@tps.ca.
